My heart still hurts.  I miss you Zelda Pie😉

I loved Gaye so much and always will! I met her when she moved to Boulder to teach at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy. We both had family roots in West Virginia, and we both loved to hike in the Boulder County foothills so we hit it off instantly. But who didn't Gaye hit it off with?! I remember laughter-filled hikes with Gaye, especially those first few years as she acclimatized to a mile high hiking. She often spoke about her boys and how much she loved them. I treasured her refreshing and silly sense of humor on the hiking path, in BCMT faculty meetings and in the classroom. She made the moment so fun! Her passing is a sobering reminder of how precious each living moment in the NOW is. I send my love and condolences to her husband Martin, her sons and the family.

Although I did not have the pleasure of knowing Gaye, I know her sister Cathy well and in this way feel I understand, just a little, what a wonderful person she was. My heartfelt condolences to the family.

Matt & Eric - I knew your mom when I was a college student and lived in Wheeling. She was already mom to Matt and when Eric came along as a bit of a surprise package she handled it with her usual calm acceptance and love. She was a good friend to me - a young hippie girl from Colorado with few friends and living in a place very different from home. We would sit on the front porch of the big old house and drink tea. I was a vegetarian and leaned towards "health" foods - but once admitted a love for Wonder Bread. She remembered and frequently made me peanut butter sandwiches on the "forbidden" bread. I had the privilege to babysit you boys (mostly Matt) for her from time to time. I visited her in Wheeling once or twice after graduation. She met two of my four children and you all played at a park together. We slowly lost touch after she left Wheeling. I had no idea she was here in Colorado. Your mother was kind, strong and lovely in every way. I am sad that her life was so short; but it appears she built a beautiful one. Bless you. 

I woke up this morning and put on my 9-year-old Massage for Peace t-shirt, not knowing yet that Gaye had passed. The memories of going to India on  a Massage for Peace volunteer trip with Gaye are still fresh. Gaye was always so fun, upbeat, and willing to give a helping hand - literally. She was one of 10 Boulder College of Massage Therapy faculty/alumni who volunteered to teach massage therapy to Tibetan refugees at Lha Charitable Trust in Dharamsala, India. It was her first trip out of the U.S. It was brave, adventurous, and generous for her to join this effort that made such a positive impact in the lives of 20 refugees. I admired you so Gaye, and will miss you dearly.
