

Harvey Gilbert Micklin, a dedicated physician, passed away on April 12, 2024. Born on January 16, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, Harvey's academic journey began early. He attended pharmacy school at 16 and pursued medical school in Des Moines, where he met Roz, the love of his life.
Harvey practiced family medicine for over two decades before specializing in psychiatry. He retired as the Chair of the Psychiatry Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. In retirement, Harvey continued to contribute to the medical community by leading hospital certification teams across the country. Known for his intellectual curiosity, he was a voracious reader and loved to travel with Roz as they trotted the globe through six continents. An avid golfer, he formed deep friendships with his fellow players.
Harvey's legacy is one of dedication to his patients, love for his family, and an unending passion for learning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Abraham Micklin, and his daughter, Lisa Fran Micklin. His wife, Rosalyn “Roz” Goodside Micklin survived him by only seven weeks, passing away on June 3, 2024. He is survived by his son, David Paul Micklin (Patti), and his grandchildren, Jacob Andrew Micklin and Emily Diane Micklin, who called him Grandpa Owl.
