

James Theodore “Jim” Hinricks, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home, June 9, 2026. He was born in Meeteetse, Wyoming on December 12, 1928 to Leona “Babe” Hinricks and Clarence M. Hinricks. His family soon moved to Colorado where he spent the rest of his life.
Jim graduated from high school in Fruita, CO. He completed an Associate of Science degree at Mesa Junior College and graduated from Colorado State University with a Mechanical Engineering degree.
He served as an officer in the United States Naval Reserve in the Philippine Islands during the Korean Conflict.
Jim was married in 1954 to Carol McAllister and they had three children. He next married Ruth Larsen, and in 1997 married Yvonne McNew Ray and he died just shy of their 29th wedding anniversary. He had been active in his church and in many masonic organizations.
His working years were in the Aerospace Industry and he retired as a Project Manager from Ball Aerospace in Boulder, after twenty-nine years in a job that he really enjoyed.
In retirement, Jim and Yvonne were snowbirds in Queen Valley, Arizona. They enjoyed cruises and had many motorhome travel adventures in the U.S. Jim had woodworking shops in his Colorado and Arizona homes and was a real perfectionist with this craft. He produced beautiful items that he was very proud of such as an Irish harp, two banjoes, many pieces of attractive furniture and some interesting wooden bowls. He spent much quality time in his gardens, enjoyed trout fishing, and was an avid nature photographer.
Jim Hinricks is survived by his wife, Yvonne; sons Ted Hinricks (Stacey) and Rob Hinricks; daughter Holly Babcock (Kevin); stepdaughter, Voni Faus; grandchildren Breanna Hinricks (Brandon Kinnard), Mikaela Hinricks, Alyssa Hinricks; step grandchildren Kelly Faus and Kristin Faus and several great grandchildren.
A private family memorial gathering will be held soon.
