

She was born on June 1, 1944, in Villisca, Iowa, to Thelma Hines Taylor and Lloyd Darwin Taylor. Janette spent her childhood on a farm near Morton Mills, Iowa, alongside her siblings Barbara (dec.), Ronald (dec.), Lynn, Melvin, and Greg. After graduating from Villisca High School, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to study to be a phlebotomist.
Following a brief courtship, Janette married Gerald Ernest Motley on March 16, 1968, and have lived in Niwot nearly 40 years. Together, they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Janette and Jerry raised three children: Chris (Marie), Shawn (Karla), and Shannon (Jim). She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren—Jeffrey, Anna, Bowen, Nicholas, Jackson (dec.), and Samuel—and a cherished great-grandmother to Marceline. She was an aunt/great aunt to numerous nieces and nephews across the states; she was well loved by her entire extended family.
Janette enjoyed a lengthy career as a beloved special education paraprofessional with Boulder Valley School District, working at Centaurus High School and Fairview High School. She retired from Fairview High School in 2013.
A gifted cook and gracious host, Janette loved entertaining and warmly welcoming friends and family into her home, where her cooking was legendary and often envied. Her favorite time of year was Christmas and hosting an annual open house for hundreds. Her generosity, sense of humor, and deep love for those around her will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday April 17th from 10 am to 1 pm at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Longmont, CO.
