Joan Phyllis Bubnis

Joan Wilma (Rose) Bubnis, 92, of Lafayette, Colorado, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born and raised in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Joan was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, faithful servant of God, and loyal friend. In 1960 she and her husband, Robert Edward Bubnis, moved to Bristol, Pennsylvania, where they continued to build their family and a life centered on faith, love, and service.

Joan dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home wife and mother, taking great pride in raising her four children. She generously volunteered at her children’s schools, serving with the Bristol Borough Junior/Senior High School Band Boosters and actively supporting the Parent-Teacher Association, along with assisting with the Girl Scouts. Her greatest joy was being present at every stage of her children’s lives.

A woman of deep faith, Joan was a devoted member of Bristol Presbyterian Church. She faithfully served as both a Deacon and an Elder and shared her beautiful singing voice as a member of the church choir. She also volunteered at local election polls, always willing to lend a helping hand to her community.

Joan found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved relaxing in the sunshine after a busy day, whether in her backyard or on the front porch. She had a talent for fixing, mending, and repairing just about anything, making her the person everyone turned to when something needed to be done. Her sense of humor and infectious smile warmed hearts. Joan got a kick out of her son-in-law, Jeff, calling her “Speedy”.

In the 1980s, the family moved to Bensalem, Pennsylvania, where Joan treasured helping raise her first grandson and watching him grow. During the mid-1990s, she relocated to Port Orange, Florida, where she embraced another chapter of life, helping care for and raise two more grandchildren while actively participating in their school activities and milestones. She loved Florida, especially spending time at the ocean, walking the beach finding her many seashell treasures and visiting the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. She also became an active member of the Port Orange Presbyterian Church.

In the early 2000s, Joan lovingly welcomed her mother into her home and faithfully cared for her until Viola’s passing in 2010, reflecting the same compassion and selflessness that defined her entire life.

In the early 2020s, Joan moved to Lafayette, Colorado, to live with her daughter, Robin, and son-in-law, Jeffery Parko. There she enjoyed a full and happy life surrounded by family, friends, and new adventures. Joan found great joy singing with her group every Tuesday at the Center for Musical Arts. She also looked forward to her Wednesday “Crafters” group at the Lafayette Senior Center sewing together crocheted swatches to create blankets. Robin and Joan shared many special days together shopping, walking, hiking, playing games, traveling, and making treasured memories. Joan especially cherished every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, celebrating birthdays, holidays, and family gatherings. Even in her 92nd year, she continued to enjoy life’s blessings until declining health gradually slowed her.

Throughout her life, Joan demonstrated remarkable strength, kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She was happiest when caring for others and creating a warm, welcoming home. Her quiet acts of service, steadfast faith, and generous heart leave behind a legacy that will continue for generations.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents William Gates Rose “Babe” and Viola Blanche Fishburn Rose; her beloved husband, Robert Edward Bubnis; her daughter, Judi Rose Bubnis; her son, William Robert Bubnis “Babe”; her sisters; and other loved ones who welcomed her into eternal peace.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Robin Bubnis-Parko and her husband, Jeffery Parko, and Wendy Rose Bubnis-Simmons and her husband, Dwayne Simmons; her grandchildren, Chaz Jameson Boyd, Kaitlin Rose Picciotti, Guy William Bubnis and his wife Kayla Bubnis; her great-grandchildren, Penelope Rose Pell, Malakai William Bubnis, and Zayne Alex Bubnis; and the great-grandson who is expected to join the family in September 2026. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her love and kindness.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Joan is now at peace, reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, children, parents, sisters, and all those who went before her. Her love, strength, faith, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
