Josephine “Jo” (Lockwood) Davies (78). Born February 4, 1945 in Sheffield, England. Died April 18, 2023 in Boulder, Colorado after a long, hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia. Jo is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, David Huw Davies, her daughters Susan (Toby) Sheely and Sarah (Matt) Ferner and her grandchildren Dustin and Cooper Sheely and Maisie and Avalon Ferner.
Jo grew up in Sheffield, England and went to Westfield College of the University of London where she graduated with an honors degree in Chemistry. She and David met at a UL dance in 1963. She bought him a beer and they married three years later. They moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States in 1967. Jo and Dave later moved to Cupertino, California where they raised their family and lived for over 20 years. They moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1999 and have enjoyed the mountains, sailing, golf, skiing, and sunshine there ever since.
Jo was a technical writer, editor, business owner and entrepreneur. She started her own successful business while raising her girls and later worked for Adobe Software writing the “Classroom in a Book” series that taught millions of people how to use Adobe products. She was an avid sailor and boater and a long-time active member of the Salty Dogs Sailing Club and the Boulder Sail & Power Squadron. One of her proudest accomplishments was her travel; she spent significant time in 63 countries and she and Dave sailed and boated all over the world together and with friends.
Jo will be remembered best by her family and friends for her unfailing hospitality, her kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity, her sharp intellect and creativity, and her adventurous spirit. Likewise, her sense of humor, quick wit, quips and one-liners were unmatched. She made us all laugh right to the very end with her witty comments and observations.
No funeral services are planned. We will have celebrations of life in California, Colorado and the United Kingdom for friends and family over the coming months. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Association of the Rockies https://parkinsonrockies.org/ in remembrance of her fighting spirit would be appreciated.
