Kathleen Elise Thorne

Kathleen Elise Thorne (born Burton) passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2026, in Louisville, Colorado, at the age of 68.

Born in Topeka, Kansas, on September 19th, 1958, to Charles and Patricia Burton, Kathleen grew up with a deep passion for art, creativity, and design. She attended Kansas State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in interior design.

Following college, Kathleen moved to Boulder, Colorado, alongside the love of her life, Greg Thorne. The two were married in a beautiful ceremony atop Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder on September 1st, 1984. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and shared passions until Greg’s passing in 2010.

Kathleen spent her career working in architecture and residential drafting. She found immense fulfillment in designing homes, thoughtfully shaping spaces where families could live, thrive, and make memories. Beyond her professional life, Kathleen was an avid gardener, an art enthusiast, and a true lover of nature. She delighted in traveling, discovering new places, and creating lasting memories while spending quality time with her many wonderful friends.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Greg Thorne; her parents, Charles and Patricia Burton; and her sister, Annette Martin.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Nichole Thorne, who carries forward her mother’s grace, artistic warmth, and love for nature; her in-laws, Sherry and Randy Leiker, Gayle and Rick Johnson, and Ron Martin; and her beloved dog, Bea, along with a wide circle of dear friends.

A memorial service celebrating Kathleen’s life will be held on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Crist Mortuary 3395 Penrose Pl, Boulder, CO 80301.
