Kathy L. Caputo, of Boulder, CO, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at home; she was 76 years old. Kathy was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Frank, and is survived by her children, Renee and Nicholas (Marjorie), and her sister, Sandra (Robert). She was born in Milwaukie, WI, and grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. Kathy attended Penn State University, where she majored in Spanish. During her junior year of college, she attended school and lived in Salamanca, Spain, to further enhance her Spanish-language studies. Kathy very much enjoyed sharing with loved ones fond memories—and amusing stories—about her time in Spain. In addition to Spanish culture, Kathy was enamoured by nature—she and Frank spent as much time as they could together in the Colorado mountains, taking in the beautiful scenery through long drives, hikes, and camping trips. To Kathy, evidence of God and the foundation of her faith could be found in the lush trees, majestic mountains, and clear blue skies of Colorado. Kathy and Frank made a permanent move to Boulder in 1980 after they discovered their appreciation for the town’s quirky charm and natural beauty while living there a short time in the 1970s. Kathy loved kids, as well. She worked as a health room, classroom, and recess paraprofessional at Whittier Elementary School in Boulder from 1993 to 2016, where she initially started out as a classroom helper while her daughter attended. More than anything, though, Kathy loved her family and her friends, all of whom will greatly miss her warmth, kindness, empathy, generosity, and sense of humor. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. To send condolences to Kathy’s family, or to receive information about her memorial, please email [email protected].
