Lejeune "Shorty" Pyle

Lejeune R. “Shorty” Pyle of Boulder, Colorado, formerly Bel Air, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Frasier Meadows, Boulder, Colorado. Born in Aberdeen, Maryland, he was the son of the late Roy Lee & the late Evelyn Dorn Pyle. He was married to Brenda J. Gooden Pyle until her death in 2014. Following graduation from Aberdeen High School, Shorty worked at Davis Concrete in Aberdeen. He eventually went into business for himself as owner of Maryland Redi-Mix Inc., in Joppa, Maryland. He retired in 2000 after many successful years in the concrete business. Mr. Pyle is survived by his two children with his first wife, the late Mary Pyle-Ruff: Robert J. Pyle and wife, Mary Ann of Boulder, Colorado and Sandra L. Watson and husband Cris of Memphis, Tennessee. Grandchildren – Matthew & Dylan Pyle of Boulder Colorado, Robert Cox and wife, Sylvia of Germany, Lindsay Cox of Belcamp Maryland, Alex Watson of Memphis, Tennessee, Great-granddaughter Mia Cox of Germany and Nephew, Tim Pyle and wife Linda of Cecil County Md. He is also survived by a sister, Nora Funaiole of Parrish, Florida as well as many nieces and nephews scattered across the US. He is predeceased by brothers, Morton Pyle, Howard Pyle, Tris Pyle, Frank Pyle and sisters, Lorraine Grosh and Elsie Pike. Shorty’s favorite pass time was hunting and fishing and traveled to Maine for yearly hunting trips. He also liked to travel with his wife, Brenda and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and the many friends he made through his concrete business. Shorty’s Family will be honoring him with an Open House and Celebration of Life to be held Sunday, April 7, 2019, 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum, 215 Giles Street. Friends and family are invited to come and share stories and memories while enjoying appetizers and views of the bay that he dearly loved. Rob and family- so sorry for the loss. I think I only met your dad a couple of times, but remember how fondly you spoke of him. And also the humor you found as he aged and became dependent. I can just tell how proud he was of how you turned out - a good, kind man, great father, loving husband. And not a half-bad triathlete!
