It is with sadness to report the death of my aunt, Linda Hellmann. She was an avid hiker and member of the Westchester Trails Association for many years. Hiking was her passion and remained so her entire life. It served her in good stead allowing her to be amazingly mobile unto death at the age of 99.
Linda was born in Aachen, Germany in 1915 and immigrated to the United States at the age of 23. She received her bachelors degree in Spanish from Columbia University and found a job as a technical translator for Carl Demrick Translation Service. She settled down in Yonkers, New York staying for about 38 years eventually becoming Demrick’s CEO. After retirement, and as time went by, it became necessary to move out to Colorado to be with family.
Linda was the family’s pillar of reason. Dependable, intelligent, and helpful she was the “go to” person in times of trouble. She will be missed. The family requests any memorial donations to be made to the Westchester Trails Association at http://www.westhike.org. or Mr. Herbert Hochberg, 112 Carthage Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583. Arrangements under the direction of Crist Mortuary, Boulder, CO.
