It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Marcella McFarlane, age 79, on Sunday, September 27, 2020. She has been reunited with the love of her life, William who preceded her in death in 2008. She passed from this life the same strong, determined way she lived. She announced that it was her time to pass, and within 2 weeks of her announcement, she did just that.
Marci was born on December 7, 1941 in Evanston, Illinois to LeRoy and Laura Schmidt. She graduated from Niles Township High School in 1959. One night, Marci had a dream about the man she’d marry and described him to her best friend. The best friend knew exactly who she described and introduced her to William. They instantly fell in love, married in 1962 and were inseparable for 46 years. Together they created years of memorable moments which included weekend dinners and holiday celebrations with their three children, her in-laws, her parents, her siblings, her many nephews and nieces, and close friends before moving out of Illinois in 1978.
Marci was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, aunt, friend, and grandmother. She had such a kind heart and loving soul. She was a people pleaser and her one fault was her inability to say no to someone. If you needed something, she was there to happily help you and/or listen to your woes.
Marcella had several jobs over the years, but her favorite job, her dream job, was being a housewife and mother. She took great pride in taking care of her husband and children. Marci absolutely adored being a “kid with her kids.” She often said she grew up with her children. She loved playing in the yard with her kids and spraying them with a garden hose and having water balloon fights. As she grew older and the kids left home, her favorite pastime was taking care of her husband while they relaxed and watched old AMC Black and White movies which took her back to simpler times.
She is survived by her sister Joan (Phil); her three children Brian (Beverly), Tim (Kathy) and Laura (Brian); grandchildren Alysa, Caitlin, Randy, Page, John, Laura; and her many great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. All of these she loved deeply.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her father and mother and protective, big brother, Ronny.
At Marci’s request, no service will be held.
