Marilyn Bright, January 3, 1925 - September 23, 2013, 88, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2013 after complications from a fall. A New York girl, she was born in the Bronx on Jan. 3, 1925. The family moved to Yonkers during the depression. They built a lovely two-story house there, which was home to Marilyn, her father, Herbert Heath, her mother, Lela, and younger brother, Herb. Marilyn did well in school, skipping fifth grade and graduating from high school at a young age. She won a scholarship to Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva New York. After graduating, she accepted a teaching position at a private school near her home and attended classes at night to complete her Masters in Education Degree at NYU. The allure of the west won her over, and she set out for a teaching position in Los Alamos, New Mexico. There she met her husband, physicist Bill Bright, and they were married in 1950. Her two daughters, Susan and Margaret were born in Los Alamos, and the family moved to Boulder in 1954. Marilyn spent the rest of her life there, where she was a long time member of the First
United Methodist Church of Boulder. She devoted her life to her home and family. As "Nana", Marilyn especially enjoyed her
grandchildren and spent many happy hours with "Grandpa" taking them to parks around town. She was well liked by her many friends and fellow bridge players, and adored by her husband and daughters. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Nguyen of Saratoga, California, and Margaret Schone, of Niwot, Colorado, her cousin, Sheila Todd, of Ponte Vedre Beach, Florida, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Crist Mortuary on Tuesday, October 1, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Please join us for a celebration of her life on Wednesday, October 2, at 2:00 PM at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, Colorado. A burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park.
