

Marjorie was born in Trinidad Colorado April 17th, 1929 to Alice Lewis East and John Alden East. She was raised in Las Animas Co. and graduated from Bent County High School.
Marjorie's parents owned East Drug store, where her father was a pharmacist for over 30 years. She had many fond memories of working in the store and creating ice cream sundaes and milkshakes. Just out of High school and attending Trinidad Jr. College she met John Hardy on a blind date, he had just returned from World War II after serving in the Navy. Their courtship included romantic picnics and John serenading her on one of the many instruments he played. A year later they were married at the First Methodist Church in Las Animas. Their life was filled with music. She often reminisced of the train rides they would take to Las Vegas for John’s band to entertain. They moved to Pueblo so John could attend College. The next move was to Boulder in 1956. John finished school with a degree in music from CU and they opened Hardy Music Store. For the next 15 years they ran the store until John's death in 1980.
Marjorie was a member of a social sorority and many bridge clubs. Marjorie has been a member of the DAR since 1957 - She was a page at State Conference with her sister Donna Roberts and then her DAR career grew to a 66 year membership. Marjorie was a past Regent, Past Executive board member, Executive board member for CAR and attended national to represent William Smith Livingston Society with her granddaughter Isabel Day Webb, who is a past state CAR President. Marjorie was honored as a Fifty year member and became President of the state fifty year club. She held numerous chapter offices and committees as well as state committees. Closest to her heart was supporting the American Indians. She was American Indian chairman for many years. She was a member of First Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ruth church circle. As a teen she was a member of the Rainbow girls and then joined the Queen Ester #5 chapter of Eastern star. She also was a receptionist for years at her daughters dance studio, Boulder Performing Arts Co. and secretary for the Boulder Jon D Williams Cotillions.
Marjorie devoted her time to her family knitting blankets, baking pies, attending recitals, baseball games, ballroom dance competitions and many rock and roll shows to support her grandchildren. She was greatly loved.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one grandchild Nicholas Demitro. She is survived by her sister Donna Aldene Roberts (Jack), daughters Debra Day (Daniel), Pollyanna Demitro (Nick), granddaughters Annabel Kyler (Quinn), Isabel Webb (Daniel), LuLu Demitro, Demi Demitro. Two grandsons MacLeish Day and John Demitro. Two nieces, three nephews, two great grandsons and two great granddaughters.
Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
Friends are invited to Crist Funeral Home, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder on Saturday, June 24 from 1-3 or Monday, June 26 from 9:30 – 10:30 for a viewing and visitation. Graveside services are private for family only.
