

Marigen was born in Houston, Texas to Leo and Alice Schuhmacher on September 4, 1925, and attended the University of Texas, where she met Walter “Tack” Browning, Jr. They were married February 21, 1945 and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Their love of golf, travel and sailing gave them many wonderful days and memories.
Marigen and Tack moved from Dallas, Texas to Boulder, Colorado in 1972 and she became very involved with Boulder Community Hospital beginning in 1973. Marigen continued her hospital service until 2005, serving the community for 32 years and donating an amazing 13,336 hours. She joined the BCH Auxiliary Board in 1987 and served as president 1992-1993.
They started the “Lifeline” program for BCH with a grant in 1988 – a program which continues successfully to this day allowing countless people to remain in their homes due to the care service. Marigen and Tack were named Volunteers of the Year by the hospital in 1989.
Marigen is pre-deceased by her parents and her sister Barbara Ann Nelson. She is survived by her dear husband Tack, and three children, Mike Browning with his wife Julie, Ann Wilson and Susan Washing with her husband Tom, and her grandchildren, Jennifer Brown, Melanie Bates, Carson Wilson, Morgan Browning, Austin Browning and Taylor Washing, and her step-grandchildren Whit Washing and Jason Washing. In addition she was blessed by seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 3pm at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Boulder Community Hospital
