Miriam Margaret Kneebone

Miriam Margaret Kneebone went to her heavenly home on September 8th, 2026. She was surrounded by her family. She was the first-born child of John W. Kneebone and Miriam Alice (Alcorn) Kneebone in Boulder CO. Margaret was born on Easter in 1951 and was the 5th generation of family in Colorado, the third generation in the family in Boulder. Margaret grew up attending the Whittier Elementary, formerly "Pine Street School", the same school as her grandmother, uncles and mother attended. She also attended Casey Jr. High and graduated from Boulder High School. She attended the University of Colorado. While at the university, she participated in the work study program which led to a 30-yr career at CU. Over the years, Margaret worked in Admissions, Departments of Sociology and Physics, College of Music, and the Honors Residential Academic Program. She retired in 2002 to help care for her father.

After her father passed, she worked for the University of Colorado as a Retiree for 13 years as a Temporary Aide at several different departments and colleges. That position encompassed positions of Assistant to the Director of Program, Assistant to the Chair, Program Assistant and Administrative Assistant in various departments. During that time, she also worked seasonal positions for Boulder County Elections for 23 years and for H&R Block for 22 years. In 2016, she added to her already full schedule, working as the Executive Administrative Assistant for Phi Beta Kappa Alpha Chapter at the University of Colorado until her passing. She also worked a temp position in 2022 for the Boulder County Motor Vehicle office. She loved working with people and getting to know both students and faculty.

In her spare time Margaret was an avid gardener and loved tending to her flowers. She also loved to travel and spend time in the mountains, especially at her mountain cabin that had been in the family for 4 generations. One of the highlights of her travels was the church choir trip to England and Scotland. Another recent highlight was traveling to Washington DC last fall to see the actual Declaration of Independence and the original Amendments on display at the National Archives. Margaret was also was a talent crafter. She did sewing, crochet and knitting. She knitted "Barbie" doll clothes while she was in high school and sold them at a local boutique. Her knitting was so précised it looked like it was done on a machine. She also crocheted spectacular beaded necklaces with floral designs for family members. Margaret also loved to square dance and was involved in a square dance group for a few years.

Margaret was very active in her church. She dearly loved music and participated in the church choir for many years. Over the years she assisted in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, led the Presbyterian Women's group for several years, was involved in the core-group leader team for the Single's group for several years, Sewing Circle and various Bible study groups. Margaret was also very active in the Ivy Rebekah Lodge, a branch of the International Order of Odd Fellows, a fraternal organization that does community service locally, state wide and on an national/international level. She held several offices in the local and state level and sung in the International Association of Rebekah Assembly Choir for several years. The organization and its members held a special place in her heart, especially since she was the fourth generation involved in the organization.

Margaret also valued family and held her siblings and extended family dearly to her heart and loved supporting them and participating in family celebrations and events. She was preceded in death by her parents. Margaret is survived by her siblings Katherine (Roger) Heupel, James Kneebone, Jeannette Kneebone, Beverly Kneebone, David (Michelle) Kneebone, Barbara (Bob) Allan. Her nephews Benjamin Allan (Ren Lambert) and Matthew (Cassie) Allan. Her niece Mikayla Kneebone, step-nieces Kathy Martinez and Barbie (Mike) Swankhouse, and great-nieces, Ruth Allan, Lydia Allan. She is also survived by an uncle, Clarence Kneebone and numerous cousins. All will miss her very much and she will hold a special place in our hearts.
