

Norman S Galbraith, 96, of Traverse City, MI, died Monday, April 5th at Boulder Community Hospital. He was born January 29, 1914 in Oneida, NY to Charles (C.O.) and Edna (Kinney) Galbraith. He married (Lois) Ruth Galbraith on October 9, 1937 in Oneida, NY. Norm was a Captain for American Airlines for 33 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Allied Pilots Association; The Safety Board in Chicago and a lifetime member of the Oneida Elks Club. Norm was an avid golfer and can claim 3 holes in one, all after the age of 65. He enjoyed numerous water sports and water skied for the last time at age 70. Norm and his wife Ruth enjoyed square dancing and had friends across the United States. Ruth preceded him in death in December 1983. Norm married his second wife, Catherine Kelley on October 2, 1987; she preceded him in death in February 2002.
Survivors include his daughter, Judith (Judy) Galbraith Lambert of Boulder, one step daughter Sandy (Carl) Werth of Traverse City, MI, four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Stuart Gallagher) Lambert of Loveland, CO, Jennifer (William Davis) Lambert Davis of Longmont, CO, Katherine (Krisandra Knight) Lambert Knight of Copenhagen, Denmark, Jared (Marlee King) Buck Galbraith of Montrose, CO and six great grandchildren, Kimberly Mispagel, Stephanie Mispagel and Katelynne Mispagel all of Loveland, CO. Jackson Davis and Izabella Davis both of Longmont, CO and Kaleb Galbraith of Montrose, CO. And numerous relatives in upstate New York. He was also preceded in death by his son, Charles Galbraith, both parents and one brother.
Norm, who was known by everyone as Pop, was a very strong, proud man, always living his life looking forward and setting goals. He enjoyed his family and was one of the few folks around to be able to say he was retired longer than he had been employed. Pop was always surrounded by his family and wonderful friends and will be missed by many.
A celebration of Norm's life will be held at the First Congregational Church, 1128 Pine St. Boulder, CO at 10:30 on Saturday, April 10th. A reception will be held immediately following at the home of his daughter. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The American Red Cross and The Salvation Army.
