Orville Lee Harms was born April 19, 1930 in Haxtun, Colorado to John and Irene (Gansmer) Harms. He grew up on the family farm east of Haxtun, where he acquired many mechanical skills that he used in his future work.
He married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Jean Corning, on January 7, 1951. They recently celebrated their 68th anniversary. He is survived by his wife, his four children and their families: Lynn Orville (Tami Ridens) Harms, Gary Alan (Victoria Kemp) Harms, Anne Elizabeth Harms Worrell, and Karen Kay Harms Delcoure (Del), 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Orville operated a feed mill in Paoli, Colorado before moving to Boulder. He then worked for Timpte Trucks as production manager of special projects, where one of his inventions was patented. He and his wife visited all 50 states, most of the Canadian provinces, and numerous foreign countries.
He died January 11, 2019, in Longmont after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1421 Spruce Street, Boulder, Colorado, on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with fellowship following at the church. Memorials in his name may be made to the church.
