
Oscar J. Miller was born in Saginaw, MI on September 11, 1926, to Beatrice F. Satava and Oscar R. Miller. After graduating from Saginaw High School he was drafted into the US Army. Following basic training he attended Military Intelligence School and served in Germany in the Counter Intelligence Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1949. Oscar then attended the University of Michigan where he received a BA in 1953, a JD from the Michigan Law School in 1956, and a Master of Arts Degree in Library Science in 1958.
In 1954 Oscar married Joan Hegener in Detroit, MI. They moved to Boulder, CO in 1965 where Oscar served as director of the CU Law School Library and as a Professor of Law. Oscar previously served as the Associate Law Librarian and Assistant Professor of Law at Cornell University and as a Circulation/Reference Librarian at the Michigan Law School.
Throughout his life Oscar’s Christian faith played a major role. He was active in all churches he belonged to. He especially enjoyed his role as a Bethel Bible study leader. At Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Boulder he served in many capacities including Head Elder.
Oscar and Joan enjoyed many years of travel in the US, and later they experienced many adventures abroad with the CU Alumni.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Joan, daughters Nancy Myers, Deborah Roberts (Jim), and son Charles Miller (Lovis), and six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Boulder or to Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties.
