A Life of Service and Adventure
Polly embodied the spirit of a true pioneer ranch wife, seamlessly balancing a full-time career while devotedly caring for her extended family. For over 60 years, she was the heart of family gatherings, never missing a sporting event or family activity, and faithfully hosting Christmas celebrations for over 60 years that brought everyone together. She was also involved in community serving as an EMT for Saguache county.
In 1987, Polly embarked on her second career, moving to Denver to help Mel establish and promote Coleman Natural Beef. This new chapter brought exciting adventures and extensive travel that enriched her already full life.
Following her retirement from Coleman Beef, Polly discovered her true calling in her third career as a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital. For more than 34 years, she dedicated 2 days a week to this labor of love, continuing her service until just three weeks before her passing. Her extraordinary commitment earned her the hospital's record for volunteer service, with over 21,000 hours of dedicated care. She was recipient of Channels “9Who Care” and “Denver7 Everyday Hero” awards.
A Passion for Politics and People
Polly was deeply committed to Republican values, actively participating in five presidential campaigns and having the honor of meeting five U.S. Presidents. She served with distinction as a State and National Delegate to the Republican Convention and as a member of Ronald Reagan's Kitchen Cabinet. She was also appointed to several state committees under Governors John Vanderhoof and Bill Owens.
Joy in Every Moment
Beyond her professional and political accomplishments, Polly was known for her infectious love of life. She was a devoted Christian, active in her church and dedicated to her faith. Together with Mel, she traveled extensively with friends and family, always bringing her signature warmth and humor to every journey.
Polly's legendary status as a prankster and the life of every party reflected her philosophy of living life to the fullest. She never missed an opportunity to love deeply and share precious moments with family and friends.
Her legacy of love, service, and joy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Polly will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
