When I was a young girl, my parents sent me to New Haven to go to school.  I boarded with a family on Pendleton St, around the corner from Mr. Georgis' pharmacy.  I was lonely and it was clear that I had some problems, health and otherwise.  But Mr Georgis would always greet me with that warm smile and ask how I was doing that day.  He would take the time to listen to my response.  There is a saying that you may not remember what someone says to you, but you will always remember the way they made you feel. He made me feel as though I were Ben Smith Pharmacy's most important customer. At a time when I felt like almost no one cared, I'd look forward to stopping in at the pharmacy after school for a candy bar or panty hose or to pick up medicine so I could say hi to Mr Georgis.(he even set up a charge account that my parents paid from out of town!) You were blessed to have this man in your lives for 80 years, but I totally understand how you must feel that 80 years wasn't nearly long enough.  May he protect you from where he is now and may memories of him carry with you all the days of your lives.

Before my family moved out of CT., I would always go to Ben Smith Pharmacy as they would always have what I needed and it was so nice to be treated with such kindness and true customer service. I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Georgis was a great pharmacist, and an even greater human being.

To have such a great neighborhood pharmacy as Ben Smith's and have it run by a member of our church was a double blessing.  To the Georgis family all our prayers and condolences from the Tramontanis' on the passing of Phil.

I worked with Phil at costco and he was such a nice man and always had great stories to tell of Greece!  I was so sorry to hear of his passing. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time
