Mother was a bright and adventurous soul. She raised 4 girls while working throughout her life and enjoyed a diverse range of interests. She married and began her family in her early 20’s in Kearney, NE. She had visited Colorado many times and moved her family here in the 1960’s. It was a dream come true.
What a blessing to share these last years with my mother. Her interest in having a good conversation never waned. She loved taking in the scenery and was always up for a drive. I had the pleasure of taking her back to Nebraska to see her lifelong friend from Plainview (where she was born) and her cousin - all 91. Driving the Golden Girls around town and countryside was a joyful time. Seeing her childhood home, being with her BFF was a wonderful tonic. So glad we did that! When we stopped at the family plot, we prayed and Mom said, “See you soon, Mom and Dad!” She was not morbid about death, just hoped to have a dignified life to the end.
Her heart was filled with love and gratitude for those who were kind and supportive of her needs as she grew older. Mother is survived by 4 daughters, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Her best friend and cousin will join me once again, as we take mother’s ashes back to her family plot in Pierce, NE. She will be back home. Thank you for all the heart-to-hearts, the great sense of humor, and getting better with age!
