

Richard Carl Daarud, also know as R.C. was born November 1, 1927 in Mandan, ND to Earl and Amber (Neuhart) Daarud, and passed on July 4, 2016 in Lincoln, NE. He was 88. RC grew up in Mandan, ND until his senior year of high school. He completed his senior year at College View Academy in Lincoln, NE while simultaneously completing his freshman year at Union College in Lincoln, NE. He met Gladyce J. Erickson while attending Union College. They married on August 26, 1948 in Brainerd, MN, and he began a new chapter in his life as a husband and eventually a father. He graduated from The College of Medical Evangelists, in Loma Linda, CA, presently known as Loma Linda University, with The degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1953. He was a proud member of the class of "53B". Shortly after graduating he joined the Air Force and served as a physician at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma, Washington and on Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming. He attained the rank of Captain and after his time in the Air Force was completed he went into private practice as a Family Physician. He practiced medicine in Lemon Grove, CA for approximately nine years and Boulder, Colorado for approximately thirty years until he retired in 1991. R.C. enjoyed being outdoors and spent his free time hiking, backpacking, camping, fishing and playing golf. While he enjoyed those activities his greatest passion was for his family and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and also a member of the American Medical Association.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of R.C. will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Boulder Seventh-day Adventist Church, 345 Mapleton Ave., Boulder, CO.
R.C. is preceded in death by his wife Gladyce; his brothers David and Earl “Bud”; and his sister Margie Wolfe. Survivors include his son Dr. R. Scott Daarud of Loveland, CO; son Steven E. Daarud of Kingsville, MO; daughter Cheryl Boulais of Laguna Niguel , CA; 6 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
