

Richard is survived by his wife, Deborah Greenstine, his children and their spouses, Elisha and Joseph Samuelson, and Michael and Elizabeth Greenstine, and his granddaughter Emily Greenstine. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Brothers.
Born on January 12, 1952, in Wilmington, Delaware to Sydney & Beatrice Greenstine. He grew up in Denver, CO with a curiosity for how things worked and a love for music that would follow him throughout his life. He graduated from George Washington High School in1970 before earning his degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Colorado State University Pueblo.
He began his career at KOA TV in Denver. Pursuing his career in television broadcasting, Richard moved to Los Angeles where he worked for CBS network for 43 years until his retirement in 2019. His expertise, dedication, and work ethic earned him not only the respect of his colleagues but also an Emmy Award for his work on the 1990 World Series broadcast. The shows he worked on include: Price is Right, Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful, and the Late Late Shows with Tom Snyder, Craig Kilborn, and Craig Ferguson. Richard met two presidents, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, while working for CBS News. He also worked on numerous live sporting events including several Super Bowls, Basketball Final Four, and Golf Tournaments including Pebble Beach. Richard played the live instant replay of the famous Joe Montana’s “The Catch” in 1981.
On January 21, 1979, Richard married the love of his life, Deborah, and together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, music, and tradition for 46 years. They raised two children, Elisha and Michael, who will always remember their father’s steady guidance and boundless encouragement. Richard’s joy only deepened with the arrival of his granddaughter, Emily, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
Rich’s life was marked not only by his professional achievements but also by his many passions. A gifted musician, he played bass guitar, trumpet, tuba, and keyboard. He loved photography, music, and recording home movies. He enjoyed trips to the beach, riding motorcycles, bowling, playing pool, swimming, and connecting with others through ham radio. Richard found joy in simple pleasures and valued time with family above all else.
Richard embraced life with gratitude, humor, positivity, and kindness. His warmth and generosity touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Richard will be remembered for his technical mind, his gentle heart, and the love he poured into his family. His legacy lives on in the stories he told, the music he played, the memories he recorded, and the lives he enriched.
