1929-2025
Richard “Dick” Paquette passed away peacefully at his home on November 4, 2025. He was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 and was stationed at Fort Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He met his loving wife, June, at a dance and they married in 1950. They recently celebrated 75 years together on October 22.
Dick was a tradesman. He began as a stone mason for Ray Harper Masonry, where he laid stone on many of the buildings in Boulder. He started his own construction company and built custom homes in the area. After a short stint at real estate, he built mini storage buildings on east Arapahoe. Dick built his family cabin in Nederland, CO where he spent many summer days.
Dick and June loved to travel. They traveled by boat on both oceans and rivers. When they tired of sailing, they traveled across the country in their RV. Eventually they spent their winters in the California desert, where they made many friends. He was a competitive bocce player. He performed standup comedy at their talent shows and was always a big hit!
Dick was a successful businessman. He loved and hated watching football. He will always be remembered for funny jokes and waves from his front porch.
He is survived by his wife, June and three children, Diane Strevey (Greg), John Paquette (Jennifer) and Janice Johnson (Scott). He loved his grandchildren, Geoff, Laura, and Katie Strevey, Michael and John Paul Paquette and Richard, Branden and Zacharia Wood and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby and grandson, Joshua.
We couldn’t have asked for a better dad and grandpa and will miss him every day.
A funeral service is planned for Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Boulder. Reception to follow.
