She and her three brothers grew up on the land her parent’s farmed. She graduated from Mead High School and shortly thereafter enrolled and graduated from Barnes Business School, Denver, Colorado. Her nieces include Monica Hansen of Denver and Kristen Peterman of Austin, Texas. Her office/clerical abilities allowed her to work in Chicago; Anchorage, Alaska; London, England; Africa and Washington, D.C. Upon finding out her mother was dying of cancer she returned to Colorado and lived on the farm to care for her father until his death in 1974. While living on the farm she also worked in Boulder for the Bureau of Standards ultimately moving to Boulder after the death of her father. Her love and devotion to family, travel and the Lutheran Church stand as a monument to her life. She accomplished it all based on her ambition and drive as a single independent woman.
