

Sandie Love,78, of Boulder, Colorado, passed away at home on February 1, 2015. Sandie was born on July 6, 1936 in Iowa City, Iowa to Ralph and Winifred Whannel. Sandie grew up in Waterloo, Iowa, dating the love of her life, William Asquith Love, through high school.
Sandie attended Cornell College her first two years of college. For Sandie's and William's junior and senior years, they both transferred to the University of Iowa and eventually married on April 4, 1958, in Waterloo, Iowa. Sandie graduated with a B.S. in Nursing and a Masters of Business Administration.
After college, William enlisted in the United States Air Force which took them on adventures through San Antonio, Texas, Germany, and Salina, Kansas. Upon his discharge in 1962, they moved to Boulder so William could attend the University of Colorado Law School. William became a successful attorney in Boulder, practicing with the firm of Wells, Love & Scoby until his death in 2002. They fell in love with Boulder and never left.
Sandie utilized her degrees in Nursing and Business Administration to become a civilian nurse at the Bitburg USAF Hospital in Germany while on deployment with William. After moving back to the states she was a Nursing Instructor in Salina, Kansas and a Staff Nurse with Boulder Community Hospital
and Boulder City County Health Department.
After 10 years as Director of Nursing at Boulder Community Hospital, she moved on to education, first teaching in the Boulder Valley Public Schools Vocational Education, then as a college instructor with Front Range Community College, Boulder Campus. She retired from her position at Front Range as Dean of Instruction, Business, Health, Science and Math in January 2011.
Sandie mentored a 5th grade bilingual young man at Whittier Elementary School through the Kids Hope, USA Program and was an active member of
United Methodist Church, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Chapter, and PEO. In 1976, she and William sponsored two Fulbright scholars from Nuremberg.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, William. She is survived by her brother, Paul (Judy) Whannel, her two children,
Christopher William (Kristin) Love and Katherine "Katti" Asquith Love, and her grandchildren, Christopher's children, Brendon and Katelyn.
Visitation will be at Crist Mortuary, this Thursday, February 5, from 2-6 PM. Funeral service will be at First United Methodist Church in Boulder, Friday, February 6 at 1 PM.
