May 29, 1928 – January 18, 2014
Stanley E. (Stan) Anderson died peacefully under Hospice care at Prospect Park Living Center in Estes Park on Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was 85 years old. Stan is survived by his two children Susie Hertz (Ray) of Estes Park and Paul Anderson (Melinda) of Burnsville, Minnesota, as well as four grandsons: Lance Fischer, Joshua Anderson, Caleb Anderson and Ethan Anderson, all of whom he loved dearly and was extremely proud. He is survived by his two brothers, Russ (Janet) Anderson and Gene(Karen) Anderson of Minneapolis, both of whom meant the world to him. Born on May 29, 1928 to Clifford and Beda Anderson, Stan was raised in Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota, the eldest of three sons in a strict but happy household. He was a Boy Scout and President of Hi-League at Salem Covenant Church in high school. He met a pretty girl there with the cutest smile he’d ever seen and began walking her home after meetings – they soon became high school sweethearts, and Stan and Marilyn were married for 63 years before the Lord took her home last September 20, 2013. Now they are reunited once more and rejoicing in God’s glorious presence together. Stan was a graduate of Dunwoody Technical Institute in Minnesota and specialized in electronics. He then began working for IBM in 1955 at the Tape Center in Minnesota and was transferred to the Boulder IBM plant in 1968. He continued to enjoy his career there and eventually was in charge of PC repair for the entire facility. Stan took early retirement in 1989 and enjoyed his retirement with Marilyn, working together in their garden and visiting with many wonderful friends and neighbors. He was an avid photographer and loved taking pictures of family gatherings, was a model train buff and enjoyed working on his train layout with all four of his grandsons, and was a fan of big band music –he was especially fond of the Estes Park Jazz Band and Village Band. Stan’s life was his greatest witness—he truly lived his faith every day. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” He will be greatly missed and remembered dearly by all who knew and loved him. A very special thanks to all the amazing, wonderful caregivers at Prospect Park Living Center who took such great care of Stan and treated him as if he were their own dad- he and his family will never be able to thank you enough-bless you all! Memorial service will be Saturday afternoon, January 25th, at 4 pm at Calvary Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Estes Park Village Band may be sent c/o Chuck Varilek, Box 4236, Estes Park, CO, 80517. Cremation has been held, with a service of remembrance and celebration of Stan’s life to be held in late spring or summer in Minnesota. Please visit www.cristmortuary.com to share condolences.
