Stella M. Merciez

Stella (Martinez) Merciez from Louisville, Colorado was born April 12, 1929 and passed January 18, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, sons Jerry (Chris)and Scott (Cindy). Surviving daughters Sheri Merciez-Romero (Jeff Romero), Darlene Hamilton(Taylor), daughter-in-law Chris Merciez, grandchildren Clint, Russ, Allan , Kelli, Brandi, Garrett, JJ (Jeffrey Jerry), and Naomi. Great grandchildren Alana, Emma, Sophia, Harper, and Wyatt. Stella loved horseback riding, fishing and camping with family and friends, cooking her legendary green chili and enchiladas. After raising her family and retiring from the University of Colorado, she loved going to Blackhawk to play the slots. She grew up in the Boulder area in Left Hand Canyon and worked as an aid at the hospital and met the love of her life Richard “Dick”. Together they raised a family of four in Louisville where she was a cook at Colacci’s restaurant part time. She and Dick had many wonderful parties with country music playing and dancing in the family room. Stella believed in God and studied her bible every morning with her coffee. She was always generous with her help to others not as fortunate as herself and donated regularly to disabled veterans. Her celebration of life will be held Wednesday January 26th at Crist Mortuary in Boulder at 11:00. Reception following at the American Legion in Longmont at 1:00. There will be a viewing from 4 to 6 pm Tuesday the 25th. The family requests Donations to the disabled veterans fund in lieu of flowers.
