Phyllis,I was sorrowed to see news of Suri',s passing in google.I first met him in Philadelphia and later in ny.he was a special person.you were kind enough to visit my wife Yolanda in Vancouver in hospital.somehow he left a special imprint in my memory which will always be there.I realize. Time has passed since he died but I just wanted to contact you with a few words.

Suri uncle memories will always be there in our grandmother,my mother and in our hearts,I still remember how much my grandmother will praise him about his good qualities,my mother was very fond of him too,I am glad he met our family in Texas.We remember the 11th of July 2012 as the memorable day.

Suri's memories linger on.Every now and then he is the topic of our conversation and we recall with nostalgia his indomitable personality.I am indeed to this day can not but recall our interactions.Needless to say I still miss him and still feel shattered.

Dear Kathryn and Phyllis,
We are so sorry for the loss of your dad and husband. Suri Uncle was a spirited man, full of life. I am glad he is at peace now after struggling so long with a failing body. The last time he visited us in Alexandria, it was just so much fun to sit and talk with him. I enjoyed his rants about Obama (ha ha!) and Obamacare. He had a great spirit about him and I felt so glad that he took the time to come and see us. He certainly enjoyed being around my daughters and watching their shenanigans.. and they loved their Tata's brother for bringing them chocolate. He always enquired about all of us and always rang us up during the holidays. I really wish I had had the chance to know him more growing up.. but he was one of those rare people with such strong, attractive personalities that even seeing him a few times left an indelible impression on my mind.
His younger brother surely admired him a lot, and perhaps, like yourself, his brother was his hero too. Your dad truly LIVED life. He did not resign himself to retirement. He kept on studying and reading and travelling. I admire that so much about him. He was anything but dull.. one of those people who would be a definite invite at any dinner party, trusted to keep the conversation going at all times.

What a life he lived. I wish he had written an autobiography .. he definitely had one of the most interesting lives of anyone I have ever known!

Dearest Phyllis and Kathryn,
Suri was an amazing light who touched many people on many levels. He possessed a humor that lit up the room when he entered it.  I had the pleasure to enjoy conversations with him at the gym he frequented as we spoke of life and the gifts it has to offer us with the love of people around us.  I miss him,  his light will always be held in a special place in my heart.  I send much love to you Phyllis and Kathryn in these days that follow Suri's passing and am grateful he left this earth peacefully.  May peace be in your minds and hearts.

I am Gita, Suri Babayya's niece (Suri is my Dad's younger brother). I did not know him, but in reading the lovely words people have penned, I feel it is my loss. My dad is 83 and was absolutely heart-broken when we told him about Babayya's passing. He, my mom and our family send you and Sam our condolences. 
I met Babayya just once, it was brief...but I was glad (both for my sake and my dad's).  Love to you both. Regards, gita

I met Dr. Suri Pappu in 1983.  

I found out right away that the doctor was a kind and compassionate man.  He was a great help to me when I first moved to Houston.  I have always been grateful.  I learned early on that Suri made his own mind up about things, even in the face of adversity.  I always respected and admired that in him.  I did not know him professionally, but I imagine it was interesting and fun to work with him.  I have fond memories of brunch on Sundays with Suri and Kathryn.  I enjoyed his intellect and sense of humor.  He had a great laugh.  I will always remember his laugh.  I wish I had seen him again later in life. 

 I will always remember Dr. Suri  Pappu.

I will miss Suri for he touched so many of our lives and what I am feeling right now is hard to put into words.
He was my childhood hero and not just most loving elder brother whom I looked up to all my life.He was such an inspiration that I always tried to get into his boots but could never for they were too big for me.He was very sharp not just in Pathology but medicine as a whole that he put me on a mat on several occasions in my own speciality ( gastroenterology )His knowledge of so many other subjects for example history,religeon,politics and so on was astounding and always a learning experience for me.
He was very generous and compassionate man.I doted him and he reciprocated in an equal measure.As I knew him he was very tough individual both physically and mentaly and fiercely independent and sometimes even radicaly anti establishment.
I tried my bit to alleviate his physical discomfort in the end and wanted him to recuperate for a little while here but thats where I realised how much he wanted to be with his wife and daughter.I am fortunate to have established such a relationship with you.Everytime I hear Kathy saying we are a family makes me feel so happy and proud.
Our love and support will always be here for you.We will try to meet up when we visit USA next time. You will always be in our prayers

As Chairman & Director of Milford Hospital Emergency Department, it was a pleasure knowing Suri as a colleague for many years, as well as a warm, caring, intelligent, passionate, friendly and gentle man. He was never afraid to speak his mind - ever respectfully.  We were all privileged to have known him and I am saddened to learn of his passing.

I was so sorry to hear of Suri's passing. His will and passion for life seemed interminable; an example for all, that few could ever match. I saw him as dignified yet obstinate as he took on any obstacle that presented itself. His inspiration can only be eclipsed by the love for his family and the generosity that he has shown to others. Suri was one of my dearest friends. We met on 7/1/1962 at Boston City Hospital as residents and were immediately life long friends, staying in touch over many years and  different geographies. He was always interesting and intellectually challenging, but even better, always fun! Mimi and I will miss him so much.

The last time I saw your dad he hugged me and with such sincerity. He was a gentle soul and I have memories of eating dinner together and being treated like royalty in your home.What impressed me most was his outlook on life and how he remained positive and calm through his courageous fight.I will remember the twinkle in his eyes and smile each and every time you walked in his presence.

My father was my idol, my anchor, my advocate, and my friend. I admired his intelligence, his tolerance, and his amazing vitality.   He was gentle during good health, but tough as nails when battling illness. I talked to him every day for the past 20+ years, and his unfailing encouragement and support made all the difference in my own life journey.   I loved and respected my father's enthusiasm and optimism for life, and his loyalty to me remains my greatest treasure. Suri taught me to stand tall when life tests you, to behave with class and dignity regardless of unfairness.   Most of all,  Suri taught me not to be afraid to reach for happiness, regardless of what others might say.  He championed my dreams, forgave my failures, and believed in me even when I doubted. 
I loved my father with every fiber of my being, and I am heartbroken at his loss.  But simultaneously, I am so very grateful that he was released from a battle he could not win.  His last life lessons to me were about pride and self -respect, and I am honored to have had him as a mentor and a teacher.   Quite simply, my Dad was the best thing that ever happened to me,  and he will travel with me in my heart every day on earth until we meet again on the other side.  I miss him so.

Extremely sorry for the loss of uncle Suri. He was kind enough to visit us in Bay City, Texas with his pet in March 1984, when we visited my sister-in-law living there.

Suri was one of the finest men I have ever known.  His intelligence was off the charts! He was a superb conversationalist who loved to debate current affairs and world history.  His evaluations and opinions were always sensitive, astute, and welcomed.  His mind was that of a true scientist and his eyes would sparkle as he marveled at the magnificence and mysteries of this world.  He truly loved human diversity and never hesitated to engage with strangers, regardless of their backgrounds or status.  He especially loved children, delighting in their innocence and purity of heart.  Suri possessed a wonderful sense of humor, he loved to laugh and make others laugh.   He enjoyed fine classical music, and made me smile many a time as he enthusiastically hummed loudly and off key! He had a great passion for reading, and valued the intellectual doors that opened through both fiction and non-fiction.    Above all things he loved his daughter and family.   I am so proud and grateful to have spent the last 22 years of my life knowing him closely. I shared his treasure of family with him, and he in turn included me in his circle. He was kind, generous, giving in all ways.  To know him was simply to love him and to say he will be missed does not even begin to measure his loss.
