It is with deep sadness that we wish to announce that our dear Tashi Nicole King passed away on Wednesday, September 2 after six years of living with and battling breast cancer. She passed at her home in the mountains surrounded by close family – it was a peaceful departure.
Tashi was born in Burlington, Vermont on March 25, 1975 and grew up in Boulder, Colorado. She spent good years in California, Connecticut, and Nicaragua but returned to the Colorado landscape that she loved to make her home. She loved people, animals, and the vast outdoors. She loved travel, tasting, touching, experiencing emotion, and learning. She held a bachelor’s degree from Quinnipiac College, and a master’s degree in Somatic Psychology from Naropa University. She demonstrated the true spirit of a compassionate warrior — she was generous in her deep desire to help others while having a principled, discerning way of cutting straight to the point with honesty, integrity, and an open heart.
She is survived by her husband Bryan Patrick Madden, her daughter Mila Rose, her brother Amani Kitonga King, her sister Terra Rose Worley Thompson, her mother Elizabeth Ann King, her father William Alan King, her stepmother Kathy King, and her dogs Winnie and Half Moon. She was preceded in death by her daughter Xola whom she loved deeply.
A Sukhavati Ceremony will be held for her at the Boulder Shambhala Center at 1345 Spruce Street, Boulder, Colorado 80302 on Saturday, September 5 at 5:00 pm. The service will be preceded by a viewing from 2:30 pm until 5:00 for those who wish to sit quietly or pay respects. There will be a reception at the same location immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, Tashi suggested that donations in any amount be made in her memory to a college fund for her daughter Mila. Details for how to contribute can be found here: https://www.youcaring.com/mila-rose-king-madden-427484
We wish her an easy transition and our family would like to thank all of her wonderful friends for their support, prayers, and kindness over the years. The friends she made in this life are a testament to the extraordinary person that she was.
