

William E. (Bill) Hilton Jr., of Boulder, Colorado passed away in Boulder, Colorado on December 3, 2011. He was born on May 25, 1943 at West Point United States Military Academy, New York to William E. Hilton, Sr. and Mary (Fahlman) Hilton. Bill graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1961. He attended Marist Brother’s College and the State University of New York, studying Electronics Engineering and Physics. Bill served in the United States Navy from 1961-1966 as an Aviation Electronics Technician and earned his Aircrewman Wings flying as a Plane Captain from and to Aircraft Carriers throughout the Mediterranean Sea, Europe, and the Middle East. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Helen Mary (Dodd) of Chester, England. They met in Naples, Italy, became engaged in Nice, France and married in Chester, England. Bill and Helen were married 43 years and were often thought of as “Soul Mates” by their friends and relatives as they were so devoted to one another and their son, Christopher Michael. Bill and Helen were absolutely inseparable.
Bill retired in 1997 after holding several technical and management positions in the fields of electronics and Information Technology within IBM World Trade and the IBM Corp. He retired once again as a Staff Manager with Highland Management of Longmont, Colorado. During his lifetime, Bill devoted much of his energy to support handicap and learning disabled children via Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, and Special Olympics Track/Field and Basketball. Bill was somewhat of an Anglophile as he and Helen traveled extensively to England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland.
Bill and Helen enjoyed world travel, time by the seaside working with handicapped children, reading, attending musicals and ballet and collecting minor art pieces.
Bill is survived by his son Christopher of Boulder, Colorado. He is the brother of Anna Price of Kissimmee, FL, Dennis Hilton of Pine Bush, NY, and Webster (Joey) Hilton of Beacon, NY.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, December 16, 2011 at Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO 80301. Interment will immediately follow the service at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UNICEF, Special Olympics, World Children’s Fund, Doctors without Borders, USS Intrepid Hero’s Fund, and the Disabled Veterans of America c/o Crist Mortuary.
