Adam "Jaker" J. Thielen Jr., age 96, of Bradenton, Florida passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Adam was born November 20, 1924 in Moore Haven, Florida to the late Adam J. Thielen Sr. and the late Mary McDowell Thielen.
Before entering the armed services, A.J. was employed by Riddle-McKay Aero-College where his skills facilitated his enlistment in the US Army Air Corps at the age of 18 in 1942. After the war, he enjoyed a 30 year career with then National Airlines, retiring as a Diagnostic Engineer. He was an active member in his church community and his community at large. He served as a third degree Knight at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Council 13639. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3171, the American Legion Post # 0312, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1223.
A.J. is survived by 10 of his 11 children Adam J. Thielen III, Mary Denise Stevens, J. Patrick Thielen, Carol Anne Logan, Peter S. Thielen, Timothy A. Thielen, Robert M. Thielen, Terence O. Thielen, Paul E. Thielen and James F. Thielen. He also leaves behind 26 Grandchildren, 36 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren to forever cherish his memory! Of his 9 brothers and sisters he is survived only by his youngest brother Major David Thielen. A.J. was preceded in death by his wife Jean and his first wife, the mother of his children, Jeanne Marie. He was also preceded in death by his son William A. (Bill) Thielen and his grandson Timothy A. Thielen Jr..
A visitation and rosary for Adam will be held Friday, January 29 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203. That service and the funeral mass Saturday morning will be live-streamed. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church on Saturday morning, January 30th at 10:00 AM, 833 Magellan Dr, Sarasota, FL 34243.
