was born August 30, 1935 in Bishopville, South Carolina.
Betty grew up on a farm and worked as a cashier in a grocery store (piggly wiggly) in South
Carolina. She met and married her husband M C Peterson, who was in the Air force and
stationed at Shaw Air force base in Sumter. They eventually made it to Florida and made it their
home. She continued to do cashier work and then became a stay at home mom for a couple of
years until helping her husband run a small paving business. She later went back to work as a
cashier/hostess for Mrs. Appleton’s /Stacey’s Buffett. She loved talking and joking with her
customers. After 16 years, she retired to care for her ill husband. She was funny and she would
laugh at the silliest things. A neck pillow could make her laugh. She was feisty and had her own
way of doing things and she was a great cook. The last two years she was a resident of Life Care
of Sarasota. It was not easy for her to be there and give up her independence but it was in her
best interest. She made the best of it by joking with the staff members and making them laugh.
She would always say “they all seem to like me, I don’t know why” . It was her natural way to be
friendly and funny. She was loving and giving and she loved her family. She will be deeply
missed.
She is survived by her loving Daughter Marlene Moran, Grandson Wade Hudson (Brandy)
She is preceded in death by her Husband M C Peterson, her parents Lee & Rena Adams, sister
Mary Lee Tidwell, brother Leroy Adams and Son in law George Moran.
