Bobby Steven Browning, Age 66, went home to be with our Heavenly Father Monday, July 20, 2020. He was born July 12, 1954, in Dublin Ga. to the late Ellen Gaddis Browning and Omar Browning. He was one of seven children. Bob and his family moved to Sarasota, Florida, at a young age, and he made it his life long home. He met the love of his life, Paulette, at Bay Haven Elementary School in Sarasota, Florida. They grew up together through the years but did not date until December 1974. After falling in love, they married on May 14, 1976.

They were blessed with three wonderful children and four grandchildren. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Paulette “Philpott” Browning, his three children, daughter Tanya (Larry) Davis, sons Robert “Bubba” (Kristi ) Browning and Doug (Amy) Browning. Beloved Grandchildren Dustin Davis, Garrett and Taylor Browning and Dalton Browning. His sister Nell Keeling and brother Ray Browning . He is also survived by his special “brother in law “ Troy Williams , Sister in laws Jeanette Williams and Darlette (Gerald) Mathis and many special nieces and nephews and extended family that he loved dearly.

Bob, along with his family, owned and operated Shelley Carpets of Sarasota for the last 33 years. Bob coached and sponsored many sports, including but not limited to baseball, wrestling, football, special Olympics, FFA, racing, and much more. In his younger years, he raced Stock cars at Saramana Speedway and Desoto Speedway. Later as his kids got older, he drag raced with his boys at DeSoto Dragway. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Juanita, Wilena “Mussy” and Melba and brother James Franklin Browning.

Bob had a heart of gold. Always loving and caring, and giving to the point of never letting anyone do without If he could help it. He played Santa Claus to many families over the years. He would give you the shirt off his back, even before you asked and would never ask for anything in return. He loved his guns, freedom of speech, and was rarely politically correct. He was quick to tell a joke or two. He loved God, his family, and his Country. Flowers are welcome, or any monetary contributions can be made to Myakka Family Worship Center in memory of Bob Browning.

Dear Browning Family,
We are so saddened to hear the news about Bob. He always had a smile on his face, a story to tell that would make you laugh, and a twinkle in his eye. He greeted us many times as we came into Shelley’s Carpet to buy carpet and vinyl. Our deepest sympathy to your family as you go through this difficult time. It was obvious that he loved each of you greatly, and you loved him just as much. We are praying for your family, and know that you have the hope of seeing him again in heaven.
Love, Steve and Mary Bradley

We’re still in disbelief he’s gone. The world was a better place because of him. He was so loving and saw the best in everyone. He’d do anything for you, including tell you the truth straight up, only because he cared that much.
We met when he coached our son Kevin. He saw an 8 year old, with one hand, with passion and talent for baseball and he encouraged him to play. Our son is still pitching in his senior year of college because of Coach Bob and a few others like him, who instilled confidence and skill in our son.
Bob, Paulette, Tanya, Larry, Dustin, and the Browning's became family to us. They helped us get through our daughter’s leukemia. We don’t know what we’d done without them.
Bob leaves a legacy of love and caring. Wow, what a man and what a mark he’s left on this crazy world. God must have welcomed Bob into heaven and said “Well done, you loved like Jesus, well done”.
Bob will continue to watch over those he loved.
We cannot absorb that he’s gone. We are truly devastated at your loss. Please know we’re always here for you guys.
We love you deeply, Greg, Kathy, Kevin, Rachel

My memory is:
A wonderful friend, husband, father, and grandfather. A man who married the love of his life, and together they raised three of the finest kids I’ve ever known. He and Paulette taught their children love, respect, kindness, honesty and love of the Lord.

Bob may be gone from this earth, but he is just on another shoreline awaiting other ships to arrive!
He still has his contagious smile and open arms.
We will see you again some day, my friend. 🙏🏻
Until then, be proud of what you have left behind, for the time being. Know that you made an impact on this earth, and now your children will fill your shoes the best they can. They still have their mom, and she will continue to make you proud, as she always did❤️

RIP, Bob
