Raised on a small farm in Dexter, Missouri, Bob relished the simpler life, and the great outdoors county life had to offer. As a young man, Bob moved to Benton Harbor/ St. Joseph, Michigan, where he met his wife of 68 years, Norma Maxine King Roberts. He soon enlisted and served in the United States Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base, Valparaiso, Florida; upon completing service, Bob returned to Michigan to raise his family.
Bob found a career in banking and rose to Senior Vice President at Peoples savings and loan in St. Joseph, Michigan. Bob retired from the firm in 1988.
Bob was the ultimate “family man,” one who always wanted family and friends near his heart and home. He always had time for family and would wonder where they were if not in his sight. All of Bob’s activities were formulated around family and friends from birthdays, picnics, golfing, and camping trips to boating and fishing trips up North. He loved getting in the car and just driving to some unknown destination with his wife.
Bob is survived by his wife Norma Kind Roberts, and his two children; Son James Roberts (Militza) and Daughter Pamela Yakel (Paul). He is also survived by an uncle, Lindall Oliver, and a sister-in-law, Jean North. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A man of grace, dignity, and compassion who will be missed by all who knew him.
