Catherine Rose Curran, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2020. She was 84 years old. Born in Paisley, Scotland on June 8, 1936 to William and Catherine (Duffy) Dickie, she is survived by her two children, Scott Curran of Toronto and Lori Deitz (David) of Bradenton, Florida, and grandson, Andrew Deitz. She is also fondly remembered by long time friends, Fiona & Gillian McQuarrie, whose mother, Margaret, was her dearest friend.
Raised by her beloved grandmother during WWII, Catherine learned a fierce resilience that would be evidenced for the rest of her life. At age 21, she left her beloved Scotland to immigrate to Toronto, Canada where she met her future husband and father of her two children, Marcus Curran.
After spending the majority of her adult life in Toronto, Catherine moved to Bradenton in 2013 to live with her family.
Memorial donations may be made to Yonge Street Mission, 306 Gerrard St. E., Toronto, ON M5A 2G7. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Isabell Hall, a true angel, and to Dr. Joseph Walsh and the caring nurses and staff at Manatee Memorial Hospital.
A private graveside service will be held on December 23, 2020. Robert Toale & Sons of Bradenton are in charge of the arrangements.
