He developed a line of fishing boats known as Stump Jumpers that were manufactured for him when demand was too high. He later moved into a successful metal barn and garden shed business in Arcadia.
His love of aviation led him to become a pilot at 16 years old, continuing on to instill this love of flying in his wife, children and grandchildren. Chuck loved to read, research, learn and knew a lot about a lot. He could listen to the pitch of an airplane engine, identify it and never be wrong. In 1999 he purchased and lovingly restored and upgraded a 1969 PA-28-140 (Piper Cherokee 140) that is treasured by his children who fly her regularly.
