Uncle Dale was a great storyteller. Every time he told of trying to pick up a pelican I would laugh until I was in tears. One of my favorite memories from childhood was Dale and my dad playing no-holds-barred badminton in our backyard. As Dale told the story, there was no such thing as out of bounds. Dad would have him running all over the yard.
Dancing, skating, roller coasters—Uncle Dale loved life and it loved him back.

To Dale’s Daughters, my sincere sympathy in the loss of your sweet Dad. We met at the Moose three years ago and Monty and I enjoyed his Korean War stories. My Dad’s family has lived on a farm my great grandparents homesteaded over 100 years ago outside Kendalville and I used to attend the Wagon Wheel Theater in the summer so we shared stories about Warsaw and Indiana. I also shared some dances with Dale and he was so competent on the dance floor. Sadly we didn’t go to the Moose this past winter at all because of Covid, so we hadn’t seen him in over a year. We will truly miss him.
