Dennis Floyd Schell, affectionately known as Denny, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at the age of 82 in Bradenton, Fl. Born on September 30, 1942, in Erie, Pennsylvania to Bernard Schell and Virginia “Jean” Gatti Schell. Denny lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family.
A proud graduate of Academy High School in Erie, Denny joined the Marines in 1961, embodying the values of service and commitment. He found love in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, marrying Anna Mae Dugan Schell in 1977. Together, they celebrated 47 wonderful years of marriage, building a family that was the center of Denny's world.
Denny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Family was paramount to him; he led, supported, mentored, and most importantly, loved his family and they loved him unconditionally. He took great joy in cooking and shared his passion with his children and grandchildren, teaching them the art of preparing meals and creating lasting memories in the kitchen. Denny never missed an activity for his children or grandchildren, always cheering them on with a great sense of humor that they inherited.
He is predeceased by his father, Bernard Schell, who died in World War II, as well as his mother, Virginia “Jean” Gatti Schell and stepfather, Gerald “Jerry” Firch. Denny is survived by his loving wife, Anna Mae Dugan Schell; his daughter, Jessica Lippert, and her children, Gavin, Keely, and Alyssa; his son, Eric Schell, and his children, Gabriel and Sage, along with their mother, Christina Andrews; his sisters, Dianne Snarski and Darleen Brandon (and her husband George Brandon); his brother-in-law, Jack Dugan; sister-in-law, Cathy Hudson; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Cremation was entrusted to Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home in Bradenton, Florida. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date for family and friends to gather and honor Denny's legacy.
In the spirit of Denny's favorite movie, "It’s a Wonderful Life," we remember that the bells are ringing, and he has his wings now. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
