She married Woodrow P. Bond on January 24, 1942. While her husband fought in every major European campaign in World War II, Betty persevered on the home front, with their infant son, Bob. She and her family operated PennLynn and Salem Knitting Mills, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ron opened and operated The Silver Dollar Bar in Oneco, Florida. Betty lost Woody, the love of her life, on January 23, 2012, the eve of their 70th wedding anniversary. Since then, she had been lovingly cared for by her daughter-in-law Jane, her sons Bob and Ron, and her great-granddaughter, Eileen Bond.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jane Bond, Ronald Bond and Annette Valyo, by six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Bible Baptist Church in Bradenton on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 10:00am, with burial to follow at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota. Arrangements are under the direction of Manasota Memorial Funeral Home, Bradenton.
