

Gary M. Lange, 77, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on June 27, 2024. Born on July 15, 1946, in Elgin, Illinois, he was a cherished son of his late parents and grew up in his hometown where he graduated from Larkin High School in 1964 before attending Elgin Community College.
In 1966, Gary enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with distinction in Vietnam. His dedication to service was a profound chapter in his life, reflecting his courage and commitment.
Following his military service, Gary embarked on a notable career in sports broadcasting. For 30 years, he brought sports events to life for his listeners, spending 25 of those years at WKZO Radio in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where his voice became familiar and beloved by many.
Gary was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for golf and home improvement projects. He remained a lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox, his loyalty unwavering through the seasons.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hammond Lange; his daughter, Lisa Lange Carleton; his son, Kevin Lange; and his three grandchildren, Andrew, Connor, and Jackson Carleton. Gary is also survived by his sister, Joyce Thomas, Kelley (Richard); and sister-in-laws Laurie Hammond Olson (Marty); Judy Hammond Konen (Richard).
Gary is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Martha Hammond Haley (Robert).
A private family service with military honors for Gary will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, Florida 34203. A reception to include friends and family will be welcome to attend on August 7, 2024 at 11:30 AM at North Minster Presbyterian Church at the fellowship hall 3131 61st Street Sarasota, Florida 34243.
In addition to flowers, the family would appreciate donations to support Nels Matson in his cross-country run for Project Campbell's Call to Action - Fundraising For Wounded Warrior Project Community Fundraising.
The Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota in Bradenton, Florida, is assisting the family during this time. Gary's life will be celebrated and remembered for the profound impact he had on those around him and the community he served so passionately.
