Gordon was born in Tampa, FL, on April 7, 1956, to Nita and Gordon George Hawkins. He attended Hillsborough High School in Tampa, graduating in 1974.
He was married to Cheryl (Herndon) Hawkins on March 20, 2014.
Gordon had a career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he worked in electronics and communication for 36 years. He enjoyed spending time near the water, where he loved the beach, fishing, music, and spending time with family and friends.
Gordon is survived by his wife Cheryl, his son Christopher Hawkins (Amanda), stepdaughter Jessica Harrison (Erik), five grandchildren, and one nephew. He is also survived by a sister, Karen Saari (Steve), and a brother, Kenneth Hawkins (Magna).
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Reedville, Virginia, at a future date to be determined.
