Jeanette passed away peacefully June 20, 2018 at the Manatee springs rehab facility, at the age 88. She is survived by her husband John Monahan her daughter Kathleen (Sister Miryam O.C.D.), sons Patrick and Thomas; by and her sisters Dolores (Freeling) Ketchum and Norma (Missy Freeling) Nobles; and many nieces and nephews.
She has been preceded by her parents, Mildred (Grape) Lear and Eugene Freeling; and her sisters Mary Jane (Freeling), Ruth Lear and Sylvia (Lear) Caples. She is a very distant relative of President Martin van Buren.
Jeanette and John married October 14, 1950. After that They went to Tri-State College where she worked in the cafeteria and received her PHT (Putting Hubby Thru degree). Then they went to Boston for Paten Ductus Heart operation so that she would be able to have the children listed above.
They lived in Rochester and Pittsford, NY; In 1986, fulfilling a dream, they moved to Hilo, Hawaii. Wherever she lived, she sang in the church choirs and worked in a school cafeteria. In 1992 they retired to Bradenton, FL to be closer to family and friends. She continued to sing in the church choir and joined the Magic of Manatee, Sweet Adelines. In 2010 Jeanette had a severe Stroke that lasted until the present.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Golisano Children's Hospital.
