Jerry Jalas

Captain Jerry a resident of the Sarasota/Bradenton area for the past 47 years enjoyed boating, fishing, and duck hunting with close friends. His scholastic achievements include an honorary degree from the “University of Okoboji” in Iowa. Professionally, he was a car salesman, captain of a crew boat in the oil fields, and most notably a well-known bar manager in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father, best friend to many, and a loved member of the community in which he lived, worked and played.

He is survived by loving wife, Caroline Jalas; daughters, Jennifer Hanley and Jessica (Craig) Osborne; son-in-law, Jay Blizzard; grandchildren, James Curtis, Jr., Jaclyn Curtis, and Jason Blizzard; sister, Linda (Michael) Rickert; niece, Kristen Rickert; and nephew, Craig Rickert. Jerry Jalas also leaves a host of extended friends and family to cherish his memory.

He is preceded in death by daughter, Jeanice Blizzard.
