He began working as a farmhand at 14 and remained a diligent, honest, hard-working man his entire life. After graduating from Oxford High School, he acquired a wide range of skills, from boat and diesel mechanics to welding and commercial mushroom farming. But John’s real joy was the open road. He was an independent trucker during its heyday in the 1980s, spending weeks on the road with his trucking dog and an occasional family member, going wherever the jobs took him. He and his wife, Diane, opened a successful moving and storage business in 1995.
John was equally blessed in private life. He and Diane met at a junior-high dance and went on to enjoy 49 years of marriage together, a union that went through hard times, but that each year better reflected the love between Christ and his Church.
Their marriage produced a rich family legacy. In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by his children John Bush (Alexandra), Michael Bush (Shelly), Amanda Bush Perez (Ray), and Andrew Bush (Jessica); as well as 16 grandchildren and a newborn great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Wesley Bush; his mother, Marian, resides in Oxford, PA.
John will be remembered most for his kindness to everyone, his constant good-humor, and the sacrifices he made for his family. The world has too few men like him.
Visitation will be held on July 18, 2019 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Cornerstone Church of Lakewood Ranch, 14306 Covenant Way, Lakewood Ranch Florida, Memorial Service will follow at 3:30 PM. Family asks in honor of John to dress smart casual.
