Joseph George Imperato, 71, passed away on May 21, 2025 at his home in Florida, where he lived for the last 7 years. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived on Long Island where he and his wife raised their 11 children. He served as a Lieutenant on the New York City Fire Department and retired in Dec. of 2012.
Joseph was a very devoted husband and father to his 11 children (and spouses), whom he loved and was very proud of. He was deeply committed to providing for and protecting his family. He was dedicated to serving God in many areas, including his family, his church or anyone in need. Whether it was being a deacon, VBS coordinator at church, serving at the Bowery Mission in Manhattan, or being Chapter Leader and Regional Rep for the NY state homeschooling organization, he always had a heart to bring honor to Jesus in what he did. Joseph's businesses of CPR and OSHA training allowed him to continue his desire to provide for his family even as he was getting sick with MSA.
The last 7 years, during his illness he never lost his desire that all who knew him, would know the God who gave him strength and purpose each day. Joseph ran the race well and will be very missed.
Joseph was the cherished and beloved husband of Karen and a devoted father to Christine (Kevin), Luke (Courtney), Julie (Anthony), Philip (Victoria), Peter (Maria), Samuel, Emily, Amanda (Chris), Caleb (Cameryn), Kerin, and Andrew and fifteen grandchildren. Joseph was a dear brother to Ellen (Joseph), Susan (Bob), and John (Kim). He is predeceased by his loving parents, Jean and Joseph Imperato, as well as his siblings, Joyce and George.
