Kathleen L. Cholish

January 20, 2022. Kathy was born July 27, 1942 in Rochester, New York.

She was predeceased by her parents, Madeline Monna & William John Lancer; brother Michael Lancer

and sister Ellen Reitter.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Daniel William Cholish Sr.; children Christine (Andrew) Nicklas, Daniel (Tracey) Cholish Jr.; brothers Timothy (Mary Jo) and Patrick (Marge) Lancer; brothers-in-law Jim Reitter, Donald and Robert (Diane) Cholish, sisters-in-law Mary Lou Lancer, Gloria Kurlinski and Cheryl (Paul) McMullen; grandchildren Michael and Matthew Nicklas, Cassandra, Caitlyn and Danny Cholish; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathy grew up in Rochester NY attending Good Council Elementary and Mercy High

Schools. During high school she worked at Hallman Chevrolet. After graduation, Kathy

attended the Rochester Business Institute and started employment at Eastman Kodak.

She met the love of her life, Dan, in Rochester through the YMCA Monroe ski club. They

were married June 1, 1968. Shortly after, Dan introduced Kathy to the wonderful world of golf,

which quickly became their favorite and life-long past time.

Over the next several years, Kathy and Dan welcomed daughter Christine and son

Daniel. Kathy was always involved in their school activities and never hesitant to volunteer.

Positions included room mom, girl scout leader, proud sideline Mom, sports refreshment

coordinator (mainly for the popcorn!), magazine fundraiser coordinator and lunch mom. Kathy

and the family’s years at St. Louis School were filled with marvelous and precious memories.

As a woman of faith and a devout Catholic, Kathy regularly participated in church

activities and volunteer opportunities throughout her lifetime. She especially enjoyed tallying up

the church weekly collections.

Over the years, Kathy enjoyed many activities including bowling, bridge groups, gourmet

club, mahjong, part time jobs, and too many golf leagues to possibly count. Kathy prided herself

in trying to shoot the lowest round to win the prize . . . and once awhile achieved it . . . with a

handicap! Oh let’s not forget her most favorite pastime. . . wine! When she found a new activity

she jumped in head first and all in!

In the mid 80’s Kathy and Dan purchased a cottage on Canandaigua Lake. Lake life

living quickly became the preferred life. Mom loved a slow boat ride around the lake scoping

out all the lakefront houses. In the late 90’s they moved to Keuka Lake. Kathy’s favorite time of

day was sunset on Kueka Lake, out on the deck with a glass of wine constantly asking, “Isn’t

this the most beautiful view ever?”- yes mom, it most certainly is.

Later in life Kathy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She often referred to

her lake cottage and beautiful Florida home as “grandchildren magnets” thus ensuring plentiful

visits. The family enjoyed several family trips. Kathy’s favorite trip was to Woodloch Family

Resort in the Poconos. Her competitive nature was a true asset as the family captured first and

second place medals in many family games and events.

She found great joy in life, family and friends. Kathy will be remembered as a spirited,

kind, and generous person who brought life and love to the room. Kathy was a devoted wife,

mother, sister and friend who will be missed dearly.

A visitation will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Robert

Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL

34203. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at

Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 833 Magellan Dr, Sarasota, FL 34243. A memorial

service will be held this summer (July) in Penn Yan, New York TBD.
