Kathy Jo…. The most genuine, positive, glass half full, kind, non-judgmental person we have ever met. She always put everyone before herself and we admired her for that to the fullest. She’s an inspiration to all of us and we can only hope to follow her example.

She is survived by her loving Husband Lyle, her Mother Mary E. Gilbert. She is preceded in death by her father Joseph M. Gilbert, and Sister Kelly Davis.

Visitation will be on Thursday Sept 12, 2019 from 6pm to 9pm at the Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home 1221 53rd Ave E Bradenton. Manasota Memorial Park and Funeral Home is entrusted with final care.

Kathy was my best friend in high school! We did everything together. We went on family vacations together, were cheerleaders and were always chasing the boys together! We worked at Bummies together every summer and always had so much fun. She was part of my family growing up and I will never forget all the fun times we had together! We would have so much fun and great talks just driving back and forth between houses. We sometimes would eat dinner at my house and then hers. She always made me laugh and we spent many nights up late, laying in bed talking and laughing like crazy. I cherish those memories! We had a great childhood! Great friends and we were all held together by Kathy!! She was one in a million!!

KJ and I worked together years ago and shared an office at one point. We had many laughs and I always made sure to check if her and Lyle were attending company events to ensure a good time. I was fortunate to catch up with her years later and she still had that same humorous spark, fun loving spirit and beautiful smile which is what I will always remember about her.

I met Kathy in the summer of 1982. The first thing you noticed was her beauty and then you saw her sweet and fun personality.
One memory that stands out is the day we rode her motorbike round in circles and then made Honeybuns in the Microwave. Such a simple memory, but much joy in that day.
Rest In Peace sweet girl

I met KJ at my daughter dawns house and have only heart warming memories of KJs kindness,
Giving and toughtfulness to all around her, but most of all the laughter from her and dawn. Living far from family it made my days easier
Noing dawn found KJ who she truly loved like a sister to show her the ropes of Florida. I like to believe that the loss you feel in your heart is the part of you your loved one takes with them to keep you close and remember you until you are together again in eternity. RIP KJ TO WE ALL SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN AND YOU HAVE US LAUGHING TOGETHER FOR ALL OF HEAVEN TO HEAR

Kathy Jo (KJ) was very special and will be sadly missed. I had the pleasure of working with her for 5 years at Infinity Home Care. We had lots of laughs and fun every day! I will miss her radiant smile and beauty. It was an honor to be part of her life and I will always remember the good times we all had.

Remembering all the fun girls' weekends we had together with the Lincare girls, especially our last one together at Epcot, and the one at your home; you were so accommodating and full of hospitality. RIP, my friend. Love, Barb

I’m so sorry for your loss! Kathy was a year older than me in school. I don’t have anything but happy thoughts of her. Caught up with her at a basketball game where she came to watch Cameron Lightle. Such a sweetie!

OMG Where do I start. KJ was the sweetest kindest craziest friend anyone could have. Her and I spent many vacations and days off attached at the hip
I will miss her so much because she was a huge part of my life. Her family is incredibly kind and welcoming and Lyle was her Prince Charming. She loved him from day one. Shell road beach will never be the same. God must have big plans for her because she was taken too soon. KJ I will love and miss you forever. But I'll smile knowing you're keeping an eye on all of us. Lisa
