Lawrence Reagan, 83, of Bradenton, FL, passed away from natural causes on November 02, 2015. He was born October 31, 1932, in Cleveland, TN. Lawrence’s family moved to Florida when he was two. He was a graduate of St. Petersburg High School, where he met his wonderful wife, Sally Reagan. They married on April 10, 1952 and remained married and devoted to each other throughout his life. Lawrence and Sally lived in Pinellas Park for a time, and then moved to Bradenton in 1955 where he ran a successful family dairy business, Manatee Dairies. During this time Lawrence was the President of Dairy Farmers, Inc. and also served as President of Sun Coast Co-op (an association of local dairy farmers) of which he was a member for 20 years. Lawrence was also named Manatee County’s Outstanding Agriculturist in 1982. Lawrence would eventually sell the dairy business, and moved his focus to the family cattle ranch, Reagan Ranch. With the help of his son Ron Reagan and his grandson Wesley Reagan, the family successfully ran the ranch while also branching out into the contract cutting of silage.
In Lawrence’s retirement, he was an avid stock trader and loved to spend his time in his office on the computer researching stocks, sending emails to others, and keeping tabs on the ranch, while also catching up on his Gators football and basketball teams, and his St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Lawrence will be remembered as a devoted husband, dairy farmer, and cattle rancher. He had a keen intelligence, sense for business, and commitment to his family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sally Reagan; their grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer Reagan, Wesley and Erica Reagan; and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly, Clayton, and Lillian Reagan.
A viewing will be held at 10am on Friday November 06, followed by a memorial service and burial at 11am, at Manasota Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton, FL, 34203.
