After graduating, Percival enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 23, 1950, beginning a distinguished military career that spanned eight years over two enlistments. He trained at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado as a Weapons Mechanic CRSE and served in various locations including Okinawa, Japan; Goose Bay, Labrador; MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida; and McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. His dedication earned him several honors, including the Armed Forces Longevity Service Award, Good Conduct Medal, Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 23, 1960.
On April 7, 1956, Percival married the love of his life, Vaughn Deleath Green, who preceded him in death on September 7, 2021. He is survived by his son Kevin Connell Vincent and his wife Bridget O’Connor; his daughter Linda Louise Babb and her husband Lawrence Babb; his grandchildren Brian Bringazi, his wife Heather Bringazi, Richard Hewitt, and Shane Babb; many great grandchildren; and his sisters Mary Furman and Patricia Vincent.
Percival was a man of many talents and a great love for preserving memories. He was rarely seen without a camera or video recorder in hand, always eager to document family adventures and celebrations. In his later years, he enjoyed revisiting old footage and sharing stories from his military days and family life.
He will be remembered for his playful spirit, sharp wit, and charming sense of humor. Percival had a deep love for classic country music, which he listened to daily, and never passed up a chance to dance when live music played. He also enjoyed word search puzzles and playing cards.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home in Bradenton, FL. The viewing will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at 1:00 PM.
